There was no rain predicted today, but starting out we had our doubts that we would avoid it. But the weatherman was right and we walked 11.5 miles in good weather.
When we got to Lourenzá, we stopped in the cathedral to see it and to have our "credencials" stamped. When Moriah asked if we could sit in the church, she was told that it would cost 5 Euros! We were stunned!
We are staying in the "Hospedería" (think "hospitality", not "hospital"), connected to the cathedral in Mondoñedo. The building dates from the 16th century and was originally built as a seminary to train priests. It is now used for accommodating people like us, and also as a home for retired priests. They make it clear that the chapel is always open if you need a moment of private prayer, I assume at no extra charge!Read more
