Hike Day 2. The second day was challenging as we had to climb more than 1500m, the whole day was just climbing up and up, So we woke up and got ready, had a nice coffee and started climbing. After reaching a certain altitude it started getting a bit wet with fog and rain. But we were lucky to have a warm coffee and a tasty banana pie. We reached quite late and there was a lot of fog and it was also very cold and windy. So at last we pitched the tent in the parking spot and decided to stay there. • Hike Day05

    December 1, 2025 in Portugal ⋅ 🌙 12 °C

Hike day 5 : We started the day with fresh energy as we had a new member accompanying us. We started again walking along the water canals, passing through the tunnels and passing by some waterfalls. Reached the top again with some steep rock climbing. PS: it was a rock fall danger zone 😅. And also passed through nice grasslands. There was a moment when we walked through the mountains and the valley was full of clouds, it felt like we were walking towards nowhere, it was a meditating experience but I also got a little bit bored after a point 😅.Read more

  • Hike Day06

    December 2, 2025 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Hike day 6 : Last day of hike, couldn't wait to reach porto moniz and finish the hike. But nature had some other plans for us, before we accomplished this feat, nature wanted to test us so it threw a very cold, windy and rainy day towards us. After some point we were so wet and cold that our body forgot that we also needed food and I guess we walked around 28 km straight battling through cold, wind and rain. The journey coming down from the mountain was filled with lots of falls and slips that after one point I stopped counting how many times I felled 😂. After walking for so long and finally having a coffee felt so nice and then finally we had a first glimpse of porto moniz, which energized me at least. Before finishing the hike we had our last piece of cheese, as it was like a ritual during the hike 😂. At last we reached Porto Moniz and had a wonderful evening.Read more

  • The Last day

    December 7, 2025 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

With a heavy heart I am saying good bye to the beautiful island. I did so many unpredictable and unimaginable things in the last two weeks. From eating cheese each day during the hike to enjoying tuna and broccoli, from sleeping in the cold night in a tent to sleeping in a warm and cozy bed, from walking almost 20 km every day to being lazy all day, from sleeping 12 hours to sleeping 4 hours, from watching sunrise to sunset, spending evening in nature to spending evening in the city, I enjoyed each and every moment.
From this trip I am taking so much of gratitude and also a huge appreciation to all the people who were with me and made this hiking trip memorable 😊😊.
