Ankunft in Mexico ist in Quintana Roo. Ich dachte immer, dass dieser ganze Zipfel von Mexico Yukatan heißt, aber der besteht aus drei Provinzen (Quintana Roo - capital: Chetumal, Yucatán- capital: Mérida und Campeche=capital) und hat sogar 2 Zeitzonen, was wir erst später festellen. Wir übernachten 2x und fahren dann weiter nach Tulum. Bis dahin schauen wir uns unsere Gegend und den Playa an,besorgen Pesos und eine Sim-card bei Telcel.
Von der ADO-Station kommt man überall hin und man kann meistens die Hand ausstrecken und der Bus hält. Es muss nicht immer eine Haltestelle sein.
Der Strand erinnert mich schwer an den Ballermann. Große Resort-Hotels mit lauter Mucke und Partypeople...nicht mein Ding.
Aber wir sehen auch schöne und interessante Dinge. Das Maya Museum gibt uns eine erste Idee von langer Geschichte und reicher Kultur.
Die Fahrten mit den öffentlichen Bussen sind lustig. Fette Musik aus den Boxen, die Fahrer am Handy, oft textend und die Türen sind beim Fahren auf. Man muss ja Luft kriegen, denn es ist ja heiß mit fast 35°...
Abends sind wir wieder in unserem Barrio und probieren den empfohlenen Tacoladen aus. Gut und günstig und der Chef unterhält sich lange mit uns. Am Ende gibt er noch ne Runde Tequila aus. Das Viertel gefällt uns jetzt eigentlich ganz gut. Man muss sich erst dran gewöhnen, dass Häuser, Autos, Straßen oft kaputt sind, dass das aber nicht unbedingt heißt, dass die Leute genauso kaputt sind.

Mal sehen wie es in Tulum sein wird. Wir haben viel gehört. Mal soll es eine coole Surferstadt sein, mal heißt es: das war sie mal, jetzt ist es einfach nicht mehr so.
Der Kommerz hat Einzug gehalten und so richtig sicher sei es da auch nicht mehr...
Wir werden uns unsere Meinung selber machen.

The rides on the public buses are fun. Fat music from the speakers, the drivers pay more attention to their cell phones then traffic, often texting and the doors are open when driving. You have to get some air, because it's hot at almost 35°...
In the evening we are back in our barrio and try the recommended taco shop. Good and cheap and the boss talks to us for a long time. He ends up pouring out a round of tequila. We really like the neighborhood now. You have to get used to the fact that houses, cars and roads are often broken, but that doesn't necessarily mean that people are broken in the same way.
Let's see how it will be in Tulum. We've heard a lot. Sometimes it's supposed to be a cool surfer town, sometimes they say: that's what it used to be, now it's just not like that anymore. Commerce has arrived and it's not really safe anymore...
