Saint Bees and Whitehaven Day 1

    Oct 16–17, 2024 in England ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

John and I are up around 6:30, as we're well adjusted to the time change. When it starts to get lighter, we see the gardens and old buildings surrounding High House Cottage. There is a bit of a breeze, and there has been rain overnight, but it seems fairly warm.

Once everyone is ready, we head to a local restaurant in St Bees, which overlooks the beach. St Bees is a quaint little village that has been in existence for thousands of years. The area is very picturesque.

We then head over to Whitehaven to check out some local stores and go to Tesco for groceries.

We go for a walk around the harbour, which at one time was a very busy fishing port. There was also a coal mine here. Very old buildings are interspersed with more modern ones. A nice small town vibe here, where there are around 30,000 residents. We go to a coffee shop to buy ground beans and a few baked items.

While shopping, we ran into Jonny buying groceries for his Mum and Dad, who arrived from Italy late last night. What a great surprise! We're looking forward to seeing Regan later tonight. She's in Edinburough with Marrissa, her friend from Cache Creek, and picking up Stephen, who went to Van Arts with Regan and arrived in Edinburough from the US.

We plan to eat in tonight and have plans for a roast chicken dinner. We seem quite happy to sit around the cottage and read or play games. Regan will be coming over here later tonight, and we're all looking forward to seeing her!
