Khao Yai I

Los geht’s heute nach Pak Chong, dem Tor zum Nordosten, und ich habe mich ganz nachhaltig für den Bus entschieden. An das Ticket zu kommen fühlte sich zwar zeitweise an wie Passierschein A38 (die Gallier, ihr wisst schon), aber durchfragen hat geholfen. Und was soll ich sagen - keine Ahnung, wieso Backpacker immer sagen, dass Busreisen in Asien so unkomfortabel seien - ich saß im gut klimatisierten Bus wie in einem Thron, mit USB Anschluss am Sitz und es gab sogar eine Flasche Wasser und einen Burger von McD (ja, da hab ich auch nicht schlecht geschaut) dazu. Aber mit knapp 6 EUR für 160 km ist das auch schon fast schon Wucher.🤪

Nach Busfahrt und Check-In wurde ich auch schon abgeholt zur Halbtagstour zum Nationalpark und habe Christian und Viola aus Wien kennengelernt (gleiches Hostel, gleiche Tour) - wir haben uns sofort super verstanden. Zuerst ging es dann zusammen mit einer belgischen Familie an einen kleinen Wasserfall mit Badestelle - war jetzt noch nicht so highlightig, zu touristisch für meinen Geschmack und ich wäre lieber auf eigene Faust mitten rein in den Nationalpark. Danach ging es in eine Fledermaushöhle - spooky, aber auch noch nicht das Highlight, kannte ich so ähnlich.

Was aber sehr highlightig war: einfach rumzufahren und das Gefühl wieder in den Bergen und in der Natur zu sein! Wir fuhren dann noch an einen Platz, an dem man sehen soll, wie 4 Mio. (!!!) Fledermäuse aus einer Höhle geflogen kommen. Da unser Guide so undeutlich sprach, als hätte er einen Joint geraucht (brachte unser Gespräch zu meiner Bucket-List😅), dachten wir nur so „ja ja“. Aber als dann tatsächlich 20 Minuten lang in einer Reihe Abertausende Fledermäuse Schleierwolken in den Himmel zeichneten, kamen wir aus dem staunen nicht mehr raus.

Nach der Tour gab es noch PadThai vom Nightmarket (das ich zum Glück besser vertragen habe, als eine meiner Mitbewohnerinnen, die nachts mehrfach aus dem Zimmer geeilt ist 🤢) und keinen Haken auf der BucketList weil Abend anders schön gestaltet. Morgen ist auch noch ein Tag.

PS: hab meine Weiterreise immer noch nicht geplant.😂 langsam finde ich Gefallen daran.

Today I get off to Pak Chong, the gateway to the northeast, and I've decided to take the bus. Getting the ticket felt like a pass A38 at times (the Gauls, you know), but asking around helped a lot. And what can I say - I have no idea why backpackers always say that bus trips in Asia are so uncomfortable - I sat in the well-air-conditioned bus like I was on a throne, with a USB port on the seat and there was even a bottle of water and a burger from McD (yes, I was pretty surprised too). But at just under 6 EUR for 160 km, that's almost extortionate.🤪

After the bus ride and check-in, I was picked up for the half-day tour to the national park and met Christian and Viola from Vienna (same hostel, same tour) - we got on really well straight away. First we went with a Belgian family to a small waterfall with a swimming area - it wasn't that great, too touristy for my taste and I would have preferred to go into the middle of the national park on my own. Then we went to a bat cave - spooky, but not the highlight, I knew something similar.

But what was really great was just driving around and the feeling of being back in the mountains and in nature! We then drove to a place where you can see 4 million (!!!) bats flying out of a cave. Since our guide spoke so unclearly, as if he had smoked a joint (took our conversation to my bucket-list😅), we just thought "yes, yes". But when thousands upon thousands of bats actually drew veil clouds in the sky in a row for 20 minutes, we couldn't stop being amazed.

After the tour, there was PadThai from the night market (which I luckily tolerated better than one of my roommates, who rushed out of the room several times during the night 🤢) and no tick on the bucket list because the evening was spent in a different nice way. Tomorrow is another day.

PS: I still haven't planned my onward journey.😂 I'm slowly starting to like it.Read more
