Unbelievably it was 9.30 before we started waking up this morning, obviously yesterday was just a very tiring day and we needed the recovery time. I did wake up to some sad news though as I had a phone call from my mum to let me know that my aunt had passed away overnight so it was not the cheeriest start to the day. She had had a good long life and was always a cheerful presence, always laughing, and will be missed.
We did wake up to the promised rain, not heavy but just a steady drizzle and as we knew that this was on the cards for today we had planned accordingly and decided we would have a rest day and just focus on work. Also, we needed to let Olivia’s poor neck get better, after all the exertions of yesterday. So this is exactly what we did, we sat in the van and worked while the drizzle persisted outside, with breaks for food and showers and not much else in the way of family activity. Poor Jess also had to deliver a live class this evening, as she said several times today, she should have just said no.
The twins are brilliant at times like this as they just make the most of the down time and chill out, with bursts of laughter and crazy every now and then. They went out for a bit of a walk today, in the steady rain, and were happy just hanging out together without needing us to continually provide them with entertainment. We do make a big deal sometimes about how much we miss our fallen comrades and we absolutely do love it when the whole family is together but it is actually really enjoyable to have time like this where we just get to hang out as a fantastic four and see how, although they will always be our babies, they are so grown up now and such unique individuals, even though they are continually referred to as ´the twins’, which I know they secretly love. It is very special for Jess and me to have this time and to get to experience this different dynamic without the older two and their natural dominance due to being older. I guess I am just trying to say we are very lucky to have four such amazing daughters, all of whom are growing into very special young women and even more lucky that we all love hanging out together in whatever way we can. Tomorrow though, we need to get out of this van.
