Slow Saturday 2026-05-23

Slow Saturdays are sacred in this life.

We started with a lazy lie-in — no apologies — and eventually persuaded ourselves to take a drive. The knitting came along, as it always does on road trips. Some people have travel sweets. I have yarn.

First stop: The Island. One road in, barely wide enough to take seriously. Excuse the language in the video.

Then out to Grootbrak and Kleinbrak, where we found Pine Creek caravan park — beautiful stands right on the river. That one is going on the list.

Brunch at Meet on Sea with the ocean doing exactly what you want an ocean to do when you are eating brunch next to it.

The beaches are covered in driftwood. Two weeks ago this coastline took a battering — 73 knot winds, flooding, rivers where there were none. Nature left its mark. It is a good reminder that this landscape is not a backdrop. It is alive and it does what it wants.
