• The finale

Well, best hotel of the trip was a honeymoon suite. I have no idea how, but me and Liam ended up in a room with a glass shower which is a story in itself......
Had "not so round" pizza for dinner.
Late breakfast and a short drive to the ferry that took us to Sicily (Messina). Because we had a late start we never got around to see Mount Edna from up close. Other teams noted that she was glowing and smoking all night. Something for the next Sicily visit.
We noted a marked difference in the car driver's use of indicators in Sicilly. As all Italians (yes I am generalising), they never use them for indicating a left or right turn. But on the highway they tend to indicate a lane change and then leave the blinker on for miles. General Italian style of driving will never work in Germany!
Ended up waiting (at a beach bar) for the requested arrival time to the finish line. Stunning weather all day and it was great to get a good dose of vitamin D before heading back home.
Waited till 9pm and then started the long trek home. Boarded a ferry for Genoa from Palermo at 23:59 to arrive the next day at 19:00. Then a 9hr drive back to Münster.
    Wanted to take the time:

to thank Liam for his support throughout the rallye. You really are an astute gentleman. Remember 100% responsible.....

All our supporters and your generous donations to DMSG. I am sure the money will be well spent to support people and families living with multiple sclerosis. Too early to calculate but it looks like €500 total donations. I hope....

Thank you Adelé for holding the fort at Casa Miller. You really are a GEM! And we love you so much.

The Italian people for allowing us to explore your beautifully rich and historic country.

Superlative Adventure Club for arranging a memorable rallye. Your care and pinpoint planning was exceptional. PS thanks for the medals :-)

Well done Find Penguins Tobias for a fine and suited app ;-)

The other 119 teams. Hoping you got home safe.

    James & Liam
