Sumur Bawah Tanah (Sunken Well)

To get to this underground mosque we walked down a narrow set of stairs to a gated building. Through the gate we walked down some ramps to get to an amazing area of 2 different circular tunnels built round a staircase in the middle. Apparently the 'choir' of the mosque would stand on the stairs with good acoustics to reach the Imam above and the people below.

Some girls were chatting up, oops I mean practicing their Indonesian, with the young man seen in the photos below.Leggi altro
