    Today, we time-traveled back to the gold rush days at Sovereign Hill, a living museum that presents the story of Ballarat as a gold rush boomtown.. The boys got a taste of life as an early prospector, braving the perils of the miners’ world and glimpsing the hardships (and occasional fun) of tent-city life.

    Of course, no visit would be complete without trying our luck at gold panning in the replica creek. Armed with patience (and optimism), we managed to strike it rich… to the tune of at least 20 cents! Notwithstanding, the boys declared themselves bona fide prospectors and are already plotting their next mining expedition - Hill End here we come!

    And as a testament to our mining prowess, we are now the proud owners of a genuine Soverign Hill gold pan. Admittedly one of our less useful souvenirs, but infinitely more fun than any magnet or keyring.

  • Albury NSW

    We’re off and cruising. Heading south on the Hume Highway, destination Albury for the night.

    We stopped on route to check out the Dog on the Tucker-box at Gundagai, before pulling into a convenient drive-through site at the All Seasons Tourist Park, Lavington.

    After exploring the main streets of Albury and the view from Monument Hill, we introduced the boys to the concept of an 'all-you-can-eat' buffet at the Commercial Club, where they embraced the joy of endless eating - eat like labradors, grow like weeds!
