• A day in Málaga

    16 Ekim 2024, Ispanya ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

A rainy Wednesday morning gave way to clear skies as Sergio and Inma showed us some of their favorite spots in Málaga’s historic center.

We strolled through pedestrian streets, popped into quiet churches, ventured through the bustling market where many of the vendors remembered Sergio from the long ago years when he worked there in his father’s vegetable stand. From the market we headed to La Bodeguita, a nearby bar where you buy drinks on one side and seafood snacks on the other. After enjoying “cañas” of beer and slurping raw mollusks from their shells, we strolled a few more blocks to have lunch at La Deriva…where we feasted until full.

After that late, leisurely lunch, we strolled some more, finding our way to a recently reopened historic bar where we enjoyed gin and tonics before being escorted to our bus stop…where Sergio and Inma hovered like worried parents until they witnessed our boarding the right bus. It was a rather chaotic scene, and we thought they’d left and were touched by their kindness when they popped to wave an unexpected final goodbye. Amigos del alma, they truly are!
