So today was supposed to be 20 miles....I decided last night that I would definitely do 10 & possibly 15 but not the full day. Brett decided to get up super early to try to do the whole thing in daylight. However due to weather forecast he didn't actually leave till 7.30am. I left after breakfast knowing I won't be going as far.
The first section (about ½ the walk) was not really walking, more like mountaineering...rocks to be scrambled over and streams to be crossed. Thankfully the forecast of fog never materialised. After that a fellow walker, Charlotte, caught up with me and we did the rest together to Beinglas Campsite. I was just too late for the bus so we sat in the sun at The Stagger Inn and I had a couple very nice pints of Caledonian best while she ate her super noodles. We parted ways as I headed off to find the bus and she to walk the next 6 miles. I also discovered that Brett had only got this far before calling quits & getting bus to hotel in Tyndrum!Read more
TravelerEek - looks quite challenging terrain. I did the first stage of Queen Charlotte walk yesterday, about 11 miles. Enjoyable walk but wouldn't fancy doing it all over again today - I'm rather creaky!!
