Arrived at 6pm and met Risa from sinorama. 1.5 hour bus ride to our hotel. Checked in and crashed. Sorry. No pictures.

Up at 6 for breakfast and on the bus at 8. Rode bus to Summer Palace. There was a lake and palace built by the empress. Walked the Great Wall and had icecream after. Also had a rickshaw ride to the old heritage part of town. Strolled the Snack Street. Very entertaining. Lots of scorpions and silk worms available for snacking. We were advised not to taste and followed that advise.Read more

Up at 6 again to leave at 8am. A day of scrambling as our first destination, the Temple of Heaven was closed for visiting dignitaries. No notice. So went to Tiananmen Square. Then to Forbidden City. Then hustled back to Temple of Heaven for last minute access. Just made it. Now on our way to the tea tasting. Traffic is a little crazy. Tea was great. Now off to restaurant for Peking Duck. Best food so far.Read more

Visited the fresh water pearl factory and then walked along the promenade at the Olympic park. Saw the bird's nest and the swimming cube. Left to go to the airport at 130pm and arrived in Shanghai at 6pm. Bus to hotel was 2 hours. Had dinner at the hotel and then took a walk. Beautiful day in Shanghai. Read more

Left at 730 this morning. Took a walk on the promenade along the river first thing. Visited the Silk factory next . This was very interesting. Lunch was quite good. The same but different as there is an ethnic variation influencing the flavors. Embroidery factory was next. Pictures made with colored threads. Some amazing works. Next was the Shanghai Museum. Did not have enough time here. Walked the Shopping street. Lots of high end stores. Had enough walking so stopped for a margarita break. Dinner was not special. Acrobatic show was fantastic. Highlight was the motorcycles in a caged globe about 30 feet in diameter. At the end there were 8 driving in this cage. SCARY!!!!Read more

Fri Mar 30 .. Shanghai to Yichan

Breakfast at 8. Walked to Jiading old town. Seven levels going to 40 meters and 500+ years old. Turtles for sale at pet shop. Visited a flea market. Back to hotel for lunch. Left for the airport at 230. Got checked in and received our Subway dinners. Flight leaves at 720 for Yichan. Will be boarding our cruise ship around 1130 tonight. Cabin 8335.Read more

Arrived at the ship at 130am. Had a nightcap with Vic. Tried to sleep in but ship announcement woke us at 645. Relaxed. Went to a Chinese acupuncture demonstration. Very interesting. Had lunch then went to 3 gorges dam. Also very interesting. Checked out the ship. Went to the Captain's welcome reception. Done!!Read more

Busy day with visit to the Red Pagoda and Ghost city. Red Pagoda is centuries old of course and has a temple at the top. Ghost city is a temple at the top of a mountain dedicated to the god of hell. He is the biggest god there. There are many.Read more

Spent the day traveling through the gorges of the Yangtze river. The hills and mountains are gorgeous. Also took smaller boat to travel up the Wuchan gorge. Got some interesting stories from our guide Janine. Very interesting day.Read more

Population of 33 million. Wow. Amazing architecture. Construction everywhere. Spent the morning at the zoo. Pandas and more. Then flew to Xian. Had pizza for supper.

Today was busy. Went to the jade factory. Amazing and beautiful things here. Then off see the teracota soldiers. Very interesting. After this it was off to a dumpling dinner and show. The dumplings were excellent. And the show was great.Read more

Up at 530 for breakfast, check out and on the bus at 7. Headed for the train station for the bullet train. Arrived on time and met Arron our local guide. Had lunch, then off to Longman Grotto to view 150K Budda sculptures. The place was an absolute zoo. It was a holiday and thousands of people there.Read more
