    Highway 80 to Mount Cook

    June 27, 2020 in New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 4 °C

Today we spent most of the day on the road we had a 4 and half- 5 hour drive ahead of us to Mount cook. We first stopped at Dunedin Market. It was mainly food there. We didn't buy anything because it was a bit expensive. Next we went to pac n save to stock up on some food. We left about 11am. It was a beautiful drive especially when we got on highway 80 past twizel on the way to Mount cook village. Probably one of the best scenic drives we have done. There was snow everywhere and the mountains looked stunning. Luckily enough some of the cloud was moving so we could see the mountains. We also stopped at Moeraki Boulders Beach a picturesque beach featuring sphere-shaped boulders on the sand.

We checked in to the hostel yha Mount cook about 4pm. We went in the sauna and then relaxed in as it gets dark early. We are all tired from all the driving so looking forward to an early night ready for a day of hiking tomorow.
