    Hillview terrace

    August 1, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

July 31. We are all up early to a cool overcast day, so we bundled up and went to Signal Hill. Some walked to the summit, other drove. Great views and a cold wind. From there we drove to Petty Harbour for a fish and chips lunch at Chafes Landing. It was Great!
The afternoon was a nice drive along the Irish Loop to Renews to visit Louise Bradley. She served us wine, homemade salt cod cakes, and the best strawberry rhubarb pie made by her sister with fresh whipped cream, and a side of 'bake apple jam' made by her sister's mother in law - just for us! As Louise faced the ocean, we all took a short walk on the beach before heading back to St. John's. Janet and Don stayed at the suite while the rest of us cabbed it to George St. to have them screeched in. As it was George St. Festival, there was a charge of $25 pp to go on the street to get to Trapper John's. So we passed on that, walked Water St. and cabbed back to the room. The weather was starting to clear and warm a bit!
