• Day 36 - Fez Morocco

    September 21 in Morocco

After a huge day I’m settled into my digs. I must say my endurance and patience were certainly put to the test - but in the end I got to my digs using the public bus from the airport - getting off at the nearest stop to my digs - then walked the remaining few km. Google Maps - amazing.

I might have missed a day - I’m still fuzzy. It’s 4:48am and I’m trying to sort out Moroccan cash. It’s like Albania here in Morocco - everything in the local currency MAD or dirham (sic?). I’ve purchased 2000MAD - and a dodgy card that I’ll need to figure out as well!
I’ll need some more clear head and conversations with other tourists.

Today I’m off to Chefchaouen on a mini bus tour. It was going to be my acclimatisation day and sightseeing around Fez - but Penny talked me into Chefchaouen - the blue village. I had seen references to it - but it was a bit out of the way. But I couldn’t resist the chance - so did a late booking a couple of days ago. Plus it was cheap and included transfers (and we all know how demanding they can be!!). It’s a 4 hour drive each way - so plenty of time to take in the scenery and hopefully quiz other tourists about managing the cash system.
