• A Very Tall Volcano and a Very Happy End

    On our last day in Tenerife, we headed straight for Teide National Park, home to Mount Teide (3,715 m), the highest peak in the Canary Islands—and, measured from the sea floor, the third-tallest volcano in the world.

    We didn’t actually go all the way to the top, mainly because the cable cars looked like flying sardine tins and the prices suggested they were made of gold. Still, wandering through the desert-like landscape felt wonderfully otherworldly, like stepping onto a different planet.

    And to round things off perfectly, that final evening we finally heard it: the legendary sound of the sun kissing the sea. Pssss. Worth the wait. 🌅
