Paramarido Suriname

Flew from Georgetown and the 1145am flight took off at 1115, 30 min early, right after they boarded us. There was no announcement as to being early. I guess all passengers were there.

Suriname claims to be the most forested country in the world - 93% forested.
They speak Dutch here but drive on the brittish side. They are not open to US$ or credit cards. My taxi took me to an ATM for cash. The airport is 45km from the city.
Stayed at the Jacana resort. The hotel was charging 5% extra for CC.
There are very few white people here. A lot fewer than South Africa.
I took a taxi downtown and walked around the wooden buildings in old Paramaribo. In order to go inside the cathedral I had to buy a scarf to cover up. It's very hot and humid.

PS. They don't use garbage cans here. They put their garbage bags in a medal basket on a poll off the groundLæs mere
