Ecovia do Vez

Passadiço do Sistelo is the most recent touristic attraction in Portugal and it is now a must among hikers and bikers. It is part of Ecovia do Vez and it goes through the village known as the Portuguese Tibete because of the green terraces that remind the paddy fields in this remote area of China. Sistelo is part of the Biosphere Reserve and it is candidate to UNESCO world heritage.

For us, it was an extremely hot day - 34•. Nevertheless, there was plenty of shades and the natural pools along the way made it easier to endure the high temperatures. Next time we’ll start from Sistelo because the flattest part is towards the medieval bridge in Vilela. We did it the other way round, which means that the hardest part was for us the last one...
