    Arriving in Bali

    September 24, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

Off to a rocky start, after arriving in Denpasar.. we headed straight to pay for our visa and get some SIM cards… straight off the bat, we had a few card/ bank account issues however after a few hrs at the airport we had it all sorted.
We quickly learnt how much the taxi drivers try to scam us tourists, after almost paying an unnecessary amount for a cab, we bargained and got a much more reasonable price.
Up to Ubud we travelled, about an hour n 15 mins north of the airport.
Arrived safely at our resort at 12am, we ordered some food and got ready to leave in an hour for our Sunrise Hike.

Ubud - Mt Batur & Waterfall Exploring

    September 25, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Very bright and early morning for us, after a midnight feast of burgers and chicken wings, we got picked up to drive 2hrs north and begun our Mount Batur Sunrise Trek. Over 14,000 steps later, we made it to the top to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise, accompanied with a delightful breakfast!

Back at our hotel around 9am, we changed and headed out for some waterfall swimming! We visited Bandung Waterfall, Taman Sari Waterfall & Tibumana Waterfall with a quick lunch stop in between.
Each waterfall was so different to the last, yet so beautiful to swim at!
Our first day in Bali ended at Cretya Ubud, a very popular pool club! The food was by far the best we have had so far!
A very long but super fun first day in Bali!

Ubud - Quad Biking and shopping

    September 26, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Our morning started with quad biking through a jungle! What an awesome experience! Definitely was a top activity to do over here, we rode through some of Ubud city along side the traffic, we went through rice fields, through the jungle, waterfalls and squeezed through cave tunnels. Going through the cave tunnels, there were parts with very deep water so luckily the company provided us with gum boots.
This was 100% my favourite activity so far whilst travelling Bali!
We finished the day with some shopping and walking through thousands of markets! Amos picked up a few pairs of shoes, we both got a bag and matching bracelets!
We had two dinners at two restaurants, as the food here is just too good!
We were in bed asleep by 10pm, getting ready for an early and big day tomorrow!

    Nusa Penida

    September 27, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

WHERE DO I START? Today was 1000% a fairytale!
As we said goodbye to Ubud, we started our next adventure with a VIP private boat & land tour of Nusa Penida (an island roughly 1hr away from Bali).
We got picked up at 7am from our Ubud resort and drove south to Mertasari Port. This is where we jumped on our private speed boat and headed for Nusa Penida.
Whilst the boat trip wasn’t the smoothest to sit still, we still enjoyed a few lovely cakes and drinks on our way. Very quickly we arrived at Mantra Bay, there were a few other boats around with groups of people snorkelling, however no one had spotted any mantras just yet. Our captain suggested going further up around the island with hopefully better luck to spot a mantra away from the larger companies with groups. As we moved along the island, we quickly learnt why all the mantras were hiding away… dolphins! A little lost dolphin was doing flips, jumping and showing off which scared away all the mantras. We quickly jumped in the water, and started snorkelling, no sight of the dolphin again.. however we saw multiple sea turtles and thousands of fish! The water here is beyond crystal clear, absolutely breathtaking.
A few hours of snorkelling later, we arrived at Nusa Penida Island and had some lunch on our way to see KelingKing Cliff! My photos cannot do it justice of just how picture perfect this cliff looked! Our day had the opportunity to turn very south whilst we were here. As we were having our photos taken, I popped my bumbag on the ground for a second out of the picture… very quickly a monkey came swooping past picking it up… bye bye to all our money, cards, passports, Id’s… everything important and essential is inside that bag and now a monkey has it. Luckily there were lots of people around, a few local tour guides knew exactly how to get it back, and before we could process exactly what we have just lost, we had a local passing the bag back to us… phew! That could have been very bad.
Our next stop was Crystal Bay beach - a black sand beach on the island! Whilst this was very busy, the water was so cooling and exactly what we needed. We had a quick dip and headed back to the boat. One last snorkel off the boat was essential before we made our way back to the main land.
Wow! Bali does not disappoint! We swam with millions and millions of fish, diving down beneath the surface, you could swim through schools and they weren’t bothered by us humans. The biggest turtle, I have ever seen came up to say hello, I got to watch him come up to the surface of the water and come back down, diving down to swim along side him felt so surreal, to see gods creation up close and personal, seeing every wrinkle in his neck, ever spec on his shell! Perfect way to end our day! I am absolutely kicking myself that I forgot to bring my GoPro to Bali, however like Amos said.. if I were to have brought it.. we probably wouldn’t have had as much luck seeing the amount of fish and turtles we did.
A quick boat trip back to the main land, we drove down to our next destination, south of Bali - Uluwatu. Enjoyed a late dinner at a Greek restaurant, and went in for the night.
An amazing day I will not forget. Nusa Penida, you bet we will be back for more! Goodbye, until next time :)

    Uluwatu sight seeing

    September 28, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

After spending the night in our beautiful Airbnb, we enjoyed a delicious pancake breakfast before exploring Uluwatu town!

As Uluwatu is a much more quieter, less touristy town, and after quickly learning there was pretty much no road traffic.. we hired a scooter for two days!
We first visited Pantai beach, unfortunately we arrived after the tide had come up so we didn’t get to explore around the rocks as much as we had planned, we instead enjoyed some coconut water whilst watching the surfers!
Our next stop was Uluwatu Temple, some amazing cliffside views inside this venue! We did hold tight onto our sunglasses and phones as monkeys were on the hunt stealing objects from the people around us 😬
Ulu Cliffhouse Pool club was our pit stop for some lunch and a swim to cool off! We ended up having a quick nap by the pool while we were here!
Later in the afternoon, we went to explore an abandoned airplane I had seen online.. to our surprise, upon arriving, the plane was very much not abandoned anymore and instead, is half way through being turned into a luxury hotel stay! Definitely will be back to see this once it’s completed!
Our day finished with a romantic sunset dinner at Abracadabra Restaurant, before enjoying a few drinks and dance moves at Hatch!

Koma Cliff & Savaya Pool Club

    September 29, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

A fun morning for me, and probably a bit more stressful morning for Amos as he taught me how to drive the scooter! Luckily the cafe we were heading to was only a 2 minute drive down a straight road, safe to say, we got there in one piece!
Today, we explored Koma Cliff, an absolutely stunning view! Not a person in sight so we really got to enjoy the lookout to ourselves!
We spent the rest of the day at Savaya, a very luxurious pool club!
As beautiful as Uluwatu is, it was now time for us to say goodbye and head to our next location, Canggu!
We arrived in Canggu pretty late, had a quick dinner and then headed to Old Mans, a very popular night club, after realising we were both pretty tired, we instead went to Sandbar, a more chill venue, we enjoyed the hot air and great tunes on the beach and then finally crashed for the night!

    Canggu & Kuta

    September 30, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Our first day in Canggu and what a treat it was!
We started the day with some relaxation!
We both got a two hour massage, amos then had a facial and ear candles, and I had a pedicure & manicure! All for $65 aud, ahh am I going to miss this in Australia!
After our relaxing morning, we headed an hour south along the coast to Kuta! In Kuta we had the opportunity to volunteer with Bali Sea Turtle Society and release baby turtles into the ocean! Such a rewarding and fun activity! So many baby turtles and such an awesome experience watching them find their way to the ocean!
We walked along the markets for a short time before heading back to our accommodation in Canggu! A delicious dinner was enjoyed at Finn’s Beach Club before crashing for an early night in!

    Finns Beach Club

    October 1, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Today was the absolute definition of a chill holiday!
After a much needed sleep in, we visited the very popular Crate Cafe! Wow did this place have huge servings! Buzzing with lively tourists, we both enjoyed our meals before walking down the street to Love Anchor - a small alley with lots of markets!
Around 1pm we arrived at Finn’s Beach Club! The ocean to our right, and the pool to our left! We stayed here for sunset and wow what a stunning one it was! A complimentary cocktail bucket was delivered to our day bed! As yummy as it was, unfortunately the ice was watering it down faster than we could drink it, not a worry though as we had 6 giant straws to give us a fighting chance😅
Amos also made friends with some young guys in the daybed next to us!
Our last night in Bali has unfortunately chased up to us, we ended our celebrations at Sandbar once again, enjoying the stars above us and good tunes around us! Oh man am I going to miss chill days like this!

    The unfortunate Bali farewell

    October 2, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Our last day in Bali, we checked out of our airbnb in Canggu and travelled south to the airport near Kuta. We popped our suitcases in some airport lockers and then spent the day at Kuta Beach!
Shopping, markets, lunch and our very last beach sunset!
We reminisced on what a great holiday we have had, celebrating our soon anniversary of 1 year married!
Bali, you were an absolute treat and we will 1000% be back to this small but beautiful corner of Gods creation!

    Sydney siders return

    October 3, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

A not so pleasant plane trip home, unfortunately a few (or should I say many) vomit bags were needed and little sleep however we are grateful to have reached solid ground now, back home! Arriving at the airport a bit after 7am, we got home and spent the day resting and re energising ourselves!
Yet another safe and great holiday to remember together!
