    Beautiful Ice

    January 20, 2023 in Argentina ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

As good as technology is allowing us great photos, our pictures really don’t fully show how beautiful and amazing Perito Moreno Glacier is.
We had a great day just standing at a lookout point for over an hour as we watched chunks of ice fall and hit the water.
The top of the glacier standing at over 200 ft high from the water (only 20% of the entire glacier) is spectacular. It is also the only glacier in the world that is still growing each year.
The thundering sounds and the waves of water from what looked like small chunks of ice falling puts in perspective how grand this glacier is.
After our lookout stay we went to get instructions and suited up in a full cold water dry suits to start the kayaking adventure.
Absolutely beautiful and even peaceful as we paddled in between small ice chunks and mini glaciers. There were times when you would hear cracking and rumbling and all of the sudden massive ice is coming up from beneath the water and rolling into a floating cluster.
What a day followed by wandering the streets of Calafate (great town) enjoying food and shopping finished with gelato 😋
