  • Delphi, Greece

    4. juli 2016, Grækenland ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Our Delphi Day Trip from Athens was today! The archeological site was great and interesting, however our tour guide was quite full on with participation. She even gave us homework.

The day was hot. We drank from the Fountain of Youth, and then went and had lunch at a nice restaurant. We stopped at a cute little town where we had some ice cream, and I had a chat with a couple from the US. They were impersonating different US accents for me - it was rather funny!Læs mere

  • Fira, Greece

    5. juli 2016, Grækenland ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

I have always, always, always wanted to go to Santorini - and I did! The blue and white buildings, the sea.. Everything about it had some sort of elegance and beauty. It was honestly, AMAZING!

It was a bit expensive in Santorini, but it was to be expected. We arrived at the docks, collected our luggage and caught a shuttle bus to our residency.

Although all our accomodations in Europe were all pretty awesome, I wanted Santorini to be "the" place of luxury for us whilst traveling in Europe. We were so torn between choosing a luxurious hotel with an ocean view or a quirky and unique type of accommodation. We contemplated for a LONG time flickimg between the two, and we ended up making a decision based on the showers.

When we arrived in Fira we were so excited with what we had chosen, we were pretty much prancing around! I have to say, pat on the back for us. It was the typical all white Santorini housing with super quirky interior design - We did well!

  • My relationship with gravity..

    6. juli 2016, Grækenland ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

For some reason, I seemed to be great friends with gravity while walking down the stairs. I just did not know how to walk down the stairs without falling on my arse! And I scraped my knees while I was at it.

There were at last 600 stairs, and some were made of marble so it was extremely slippery. Not to mention there were donkeys everywhere and their poop! Tip: Don't wear thongs!

I had never felt so stressed walking down stairs before. I was swerving the donkeys as some got quite crazy, I was also swerving their poop all the while trying not to fall over. There was a lot going on!

It was all worth it once I reached the bottom though!

  • Fira to Oia

    7. juli 2016, Grækenland ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

The walk from Fira to Oia should only be about a 3hr hike, however it took me approximately 4hrs as I stopped and enjoyed the view a fair few times!

The walk was very peaceful, and unless you're walking with a group (tour group) there's not a lot of people about - well, there wasn't for me anyway.

I was always mesmerized with the view - the ocean was blue as can be, and the sceneries were just absolutely stunning!

One thing about traveling, is that it is never smooth sailing!

So... We pretty much spent the whole day at the airport. Our flight back to London was at 630am, but it got delayed until 1pm therefore we missed our connecting flight in Athens. By the time we got to Athens it was at 3pm, and our next flight was at 7pm that night.

We arrived at Heathrow 9pm, customs took forever and we managed to get out of the airport at 1045pm. My sister and I decided to catch a cab but the driver was taking his sweet arse time, it was costing us a bundle. He drove for 5min and it had already gotten to £20, so we told him to turn back and drop us off at the airport. I rang my friend James (my phone was dying too), and he said if all goes wrong he could come get us at the nearest Macky Ds.

I decided to catch the tube. Now, my sister didn't know this (I had to look after my sister and there really was no ooint in the 2 of us in a panic) but I was in a panic - pretty stressed! I knew the stations shut at 1230am, and by the time we managed to put some money on our Oyster cards and made it to the platform, it was 1115pm. The train came and it took about 45mins to get to Piccadilly, then we switched lines to get to Temple. By the time we got to Temple, it was 1225am. Such a close call! Finally so close to our hotel, it was only about a 10min walk.

We were dying to get to our hotel because.....

We booked a 5 star hotel for the night!!

We arrived at the hotel 1245am, and explained to the Receptionist of our long misfortuned day, and they extended our check-out to 1pm!

We went for a late night Macky D run, which was just up the road from our hotel.

We got into our robes once we got back into our room. I got a free rubber ducky! I was so excited! My sister and I were so excited, honestly it was amazing! I chose this hotel, and it cost us roughly $700AUD for the night. I've traveled a fair bit in my time already and I had never cared once about the utter most luxurious accommodations... But, I figured... I had to do it at least one time in my favorite city. Right?!

  • Last day!

    9. juli 2016, England ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Wow, last day in this beautiful city. Last day of our holidays! It was hard to register. I didn't want to leave and wanted to extend my stay in London. On the day before my flight I met up with my London friends, roamed the streets and of Convent Garden. We then went and had Thai food for lunch.

I will really miss these lot! And this beautiful London City!

Our flight back was really stressful. Until we were in China, and my sister got her second ticket to board the flight back to Brisbane, I swear the time in between I gained a great amount of wrinkles.

    What a trip.......

This is what life is all about. Simple living, spend money on what's important. Take trips and explore. Have adventures, and make friends all over the world. Memories!

Travel while you're young! And then travel when you're old!

I lived in the city, and was always content enough to use public transport. I didn't mind waking up earlier to get somewhere on time, or to walk or ride my bike to the shops. I saved A LOT of money in doing so. I pay the bills, and I spend only on necessities.

This is what I live for. To travel.

    You know the quote...

"Travel is the only thing you can buy that will make you richer"!
