  • LAST DAY IN DC

    June 9, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Last day of aching feet, last day of germy metro, last day of figuring out how to get to our new sight for the day. We have had a great time, seen some incredible sights for 8 days, haven't even seen them all, but we are ready to leave this fabulous city! Today is Library of Congress and Archives. The Library of Congress is the most beautiful building inside..all marble, mosaics and sculptures. You could go inside the Reading Room if you get a pass to do research, or you can view it from above. We saw the original Declaration of Independence and Constitution at the Archives. The 2 buildings were too far to walk so we took a cab. We drove all the way to DC instead of taking the metro. It was a little shorter, but more stressful and expensive.Read more

  • BYE BYE DC

There are sights to see in Charleston, SC on the way to Florida. Fort Sumter is where the Civil War started. The Old Town is a quaint place to visit loaded with history.

  • BASEBALL

    June 15, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

The baseball tournament starts today with 2 games. Can't wait to watch Tanner and his team play.....even though it will be 91 degrees and 100% humidity! Pool cool off will be a must!

  • NOT SO HOT

    June 16, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Hopefully a morning game won't be so hot! Even in the heat yesterday our boys tied and won their games. After the game we will have more time for fun at the beach and at the pool! Well, it was hotter than yesterday. I don't know how they play in that heat, but they did great. They lost 8 to 9 against a AAA team...they are AA. Tanner always has a good eye and gets on base. He did great at pitching too. We had some great seafood for dinner. Now rest up for another hot Florida baseball day.Read more

  • CHAMPIONSHIP DAY and FATHER'S DAY

    June 19, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Up bright and early to watch the Giants play at 8 am! Praying for great energy and attitudes to do their very best today! McCord men celebrating Father's Day watching baseball! Won the first game, now starting the last game! They are battling for 3rd place in their division. Tanner is playing 2nd base this game. He also plays centerfield. The siblings get a special Good Sport award keeping themselves busy during all the games in the sweltering heat! Giants won the last game placing third. Great tournament, boys! And now back on the road again...but with some added passengers!Read more

  • OREGON BOUND

    June 20, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Covered 3 states yesterday: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi. Let's see how many today. I have a U.S. States book for each kid so they can map out our trip and learn about each state....oohh maybe we can learn the capitols too! We drove too long our first day. Our KOA was out in the boonies ......hard to tell when I booked it....looks like a great place by the river if we wanted to stay and enjoy it, but we'd rather get home! Wish us well as we keep the kids occupied and entertained during the long drive.Read more

  • ON THE ROAD AGAIN

    June 21, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Singing that Willie Nelson song with the grandkids now everytime we take off for the day in the motorhome like we used to with our kids on our RV trips! We are also learning a song about the 9 Fruits of the Spirit and trying to apply them to each day (which we all need). It's fun to have time with the grandkids...maybe a little more fun if we weren't cooped up for 8 hours a day in a moving tiny house. We have time to watch movies, listen to audio books, play games, do riddles, read jokes (may have regretted giving them that book). Then when we get to the RV park for the night, we go to the pool, the playground, and whatever else we can find to do before bedtime. 2 days down, 5 more to go...Read more

  • HUMP DAY

    June 22, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 16 °C

Yesterday was extra long driving hours, extra hot outside and the RV AC wasnt keeping up very well, so we were all pretty droopy with just spurts of energy and fun....but last night was the big challenge! Walmart let us down...actually it was the power hungry Walmart security guard that came with his flashing lights at 10:30 pm, got us out of bed, to tell us we had to move. He said it was company policy since covid started that no RVs or trucks could spend the night. He didnt care that we stayed at many Walmarts and that there's a book published this year with all the walmarts across the US to stay in. He suggested Pet Smart two buildings down that didnt care if we stayed, soooo...we packed it all up (beds, slides, levelers) to move. Today back to KAO. Somehow after that tough day our attitudes changed and we had a great day again with lots of silliness and crazy fun. Cooler weather in Kansas helped. We could enjoy our rest area PE breaks more too with jumprope and sprinklers! Each kid took a turn in the front with papa (the coolest spot in the RV). It's fun to listen to them play I Spy, Would you rather, talk about the scenery, and Papa's stories. We made it through hump day! Walmart did come through with good $5 movies, gf df foods and everything we need. That's why Walmart lets RVers stay...we always shop there...smart move. I guess the security guard didn't get the memo.Read more

  • ADVENTURES AHEAD

    June 23, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We are now in Colorado. It helped to get to our Rv park early (plus we gained an hour - in mountain time now) so we could have a good dinner, swim and play. Refreshed with a good night's sleep we look forward to adventures ahead! We are learning about the States we go through. Now we're in wyoming. We are so bored today...resorting to bed dancing. We had to dig deep to find energy to keep going.Read more

  • DAY 40

    June 24, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

It hit me that we've been on our trip for 40 days...there's something significant about that....has this been a test?...it certainly has pushed my limits! We have 2 more long driving days to get home through Boise and Bend. As hard as it is on me and the kids keeping busy and fighting boredom, it's much harder on Randy driving for hours with no breaks. Pray for his stamina, perserverance and focus as we push through the last 2 days!
Papa is happy: he found an interesting Fossil Monument and Museum to stop at.

  • LAST DAY

    June 25, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Today is the last day ...IF we can drive 475 miles all the way home. Yesterday we drove 481 miles from Rock Springs, Wyoming to Boise, Idaho so WE CAN DO IT! Pray all goes well, no mishaps, nothing breaks, we don't have to wait 30 minutes at a truck stop for gas, GPS doesnt send us the wrong way, Randy has the energy to drive all day long ONE MORE TIME! We found the best RV Park (for a side by side rows of RVs with no trees). It was our favorite because, for the first time, the game room, which they all say they have, actually had games in it with all the supplies needed to play: air hockey (Tanner beat us all), ping pong (we didn't let Tanner beat us all because we didn't play), pool table (Papa taught the boys how to play....just like the first day he met me at Harding's pool hall and I pretended I didn't know how to play so he could show me how to hold the stick), Brys and I did puzzles, did gymnastics (ok I watched her), bowling, read books...then Tanner tried the natural pond pool with squishy mud bottom, but it was too cold.
We highly recommend Abundant Life RV Park....we could have stayed longer, but we want to get to Oregon more!

  • LONGEST DAY

    June 25, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

The last day seems like the longest.....the kids have asked more than ever :"Are we there yet?" We are all sick and tired of being in the RV.....it's been a day of just movies and audio books ...just passing time.....we cant wait to see and hug our family and loved ones! I may kiss the ground when we get home. Just like you don't ask a mom that just delivered a baby when she's having another baby....don't ask me when the next trip is! Doesn't mean we didn't have a great time...we just need to be still and not move for awhile. We do have the song down now!Read more
