• Day 8: Pamplona

    August 26 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Today I transported my bag and took the bus to Pamplona. One reason was because I spoke to a number of pilgrims last night who were going to stop at Zabaldiko and I knew that there was no way I could beat them there. Beds are limited and I'm a very slow walker.

The second reason was because I got literally no sleep last night. Not even five minutes. Between the heat, the mosquitoes, and the several people snoring, I was awake all night long. So for tonight, I booked a private room at Alojamientos Olga. The wonderful receptionist took me right up even though I was three hours early and I'm now lying on a nice bed and a quiet dark room getting ready to sleep.

I seem to have lost a little bit of weight. I had to find a China store this morning and buy a belt because my skirt was falling down.

Tomorrow I have a reservation at Pamplona beds but I can stay in this room until 11 so I should be able to go right over and get into my space there as well.

The next day, I will walk to Zariquigui.

At first, I was a little upset with myself for skipping a section, but then I remembered words I spoke at SJPP when asked what my lesson would be this Camino. I SAID, "letting go" so I'm letting go of any guilt or disappointment and I'm just going to roll with the waves.

Whether or not I can make it up Alto Perdon remains to be seen. But I'm gonna give it a good try.
