When I arrived at El Palo de Avellano, my bag had not arrived. It turns out the transport company had forgotten to pick it up and so the lady at Casa Batit brought it to me. What's funny about that as as I was leaving this morning I thought to myself I should've taken a photograph of that bag and the tag, but I figured she would take care of it so I didn't bother. Note to self: always listen to your gut.
Dinner looked good at El Palo, but they weren't serving until 7:30 PM and that's way too late for me so I decided to try Bar Valentín. It has a pretty good reputation.
I was hoping to get the pork ribs, but they're out of them so I ordered a beef steak. It was excellent!
I managed to get a single bed instead of a bunkbed, so I'm pretty happy. It seems that the Hostal El Palo de Avellano is filling up, but I was surprised because I only saw two other pilgrims on the trail.
The hospitalera just dropped in to tell me not to leave the windows open at night because they are having an invasion of the Box Tree Moth from Southeast Asia. I saw all those moths on my way in and had to walk through clouds of them. They were resting on the blackberry bushes all the way along the trail. Thousands of them. Last night, someone left the window open and the bathroom light on and she showed me a video of the hundreds of moths in the bathroom when they got up this morning. It was pretty crazy.
It's gonna be a hot night
I have posted some photos of El Palo. I didn't get a photo of the shower because they were busy, but it's a good shower with a nice hot water.
And now I'm going to eat my lovely dinner and go take a rest by the riverRead more
