Anuradhapura to Dambulla

Today we visited Siguriya (Lions Rock) where 6 of us headed for the climb. It was warm, humid and crowded but we eventually made it to the top.

Next we did a Village tour. We started in bullock cart then crossed a lake on catamarans to the village where we watched 2 Sri Lankan women prepare a meal using old traditional methods. It was very labour intensive but luckily they had prepared much of it earlier and we enjoyed a great meal.

With a storm approaching we raced to to meet the tuk tuks that were taking us back to the bus so we could drive to Minneriya and join an elephant safari. It was pouring rain as we transferred to jeeps but luckily had stopped soon after we started and the covers were taken off the roof so we could stand up and look out. We saw lots of elephants, birds, and a couple of antelope.Read more
