Silver Muse Day 5 - Ketchikan

Today we anchored in Ketchikan, our first stop. Ketchikan is the fourth largest city in Alaska and they measure their rain in feet! Short bus ride for an excursion on a Dungeness Crab Cruise. Amazing cruise where we saw our first bald eagles! The deck hand waived some herring in the air, threw it in the water and the eagle soared down (200 mph) and snatched up the herring. We then pulled up a crab pot with Dungeness crabs that live in the brackish water, where the fresh water meets the sea. After the cruise, we feasted on an all-you-can-eat crab leg extravaganza! They were so good and sweet, even Jim ate 3 whole crabs! We finished the meal off with cheesecake flown in from Philadelphia.Read more
