Pérou 🇵🇪 – Première halte à Arequipa

Après avoir quitté le Chili, me voilà arrivé au Pérou, et ma première étape est la belle ville d’Arequipa, surnommée la ville blanche en raison de la pierre volcanique claire utilisée pour construire ses bâtiments.

J’ai commencé la découverte de la ville par sa magnifique Plaza de Armas. Entourée d’arcades élégantes et dominée par la cathédrale, c’est un véritable cœur battant d’Arequipa, toujours animé, plein de vie et de charme.

J'ai visité le couvent de Santa Catalina, un véritable petit village dans la ville. Ce lieu m’a impressionné par son atmosphère paisible, ses ruelles colorées, ses patios fleuris et ses murs rouges et bleus vifs. Fondé au XVIe siècle, il abritait des religieuses cloîtrées pendant des siècles. Se promener dans ce labyrinthe est comme voyager dans le temps.

After leaving Chile, I finally arrived in Peru, and my first stop is the beautiful city of Arequipa, known as the White City due to the light-colored volcanic stone used to build many of its structures.

I began exploring the city at its stunning Plaza de Armas. Surrounded by elegant arcades and dominated by the cathedral, it’s the true beating heart of Arequipa—always lively, full of charm and local energy.

I then visited the Santa Catalina Convent, which feels like a small village within the city. I was truly impressed by its peaceful atmosphere, its colorful alleyways, flower-filled patios, and the vivid red and blue walls. Founded in the 16th century, the convent housed cloistered nuns for centuries. Walking through its labyrinthine paths felt like stepping back in time.Read more
