Mondulkiri (Jour 2 )

Aujourd’hui, pas de temples ni de cascades.
Direction le Elephant Valley Project, une expérience forte et inoubliable.
Ce sanctuaire protège d’anciens éléphants de travail et leur offre une vie paisible, loin de l’exploitation. Ici, pas de promenade sur leur dos : on marche avec eux, à leur rythme, dans la forêt.

Le matin, je rencontre Doe et Darling deux éléphantes femelles.
Elles avancent tranquillement, broutent, prennent des pauses… beaucoup de pauses.
Je les observe en silence, fasciné.
Chaque mouvement est lent, précis, réfléchi.
À côté d’elles, je me sens minuscule…

L’après-midi, changement d’ambiance avec Hen, un éléphant mâle, plus imposant, plus curieux aussi.

Cette journée m’a appris à ralentir, à observer, à respecter.
Marcher avec les éléphants, ce n’est pas une attraction.
C’est un privilège.

Today, no temples or waterfalls.
I headed to the Elephant Valley Project, for a truly unforgettable experience.
This sanctuary protects former working elephants and offers them a peaceful life, free from exploitation. No riding here, we walk alongside them, at their pace, through the forest.

In the morning, I met Doe and Arranger, two female elephants. They move slowly, eat constantly, and take frequent breaks, ery frequent breaks.I watched them quietly, completely fascinated.
Every movement is calm and intentional.
Next to them, I felt tiny… and slightly too loud.

In the afternoon, the atmosphere changed with Hen, a male elephant , bigger.

This day taught me to slow down, to observe, and to respect.
Walking with elephants isn’t an attraction.
