Hô Chi Minh

Me voilà au Vietnam, et première escale : Ho Chi Minh City (ex-Saïgon).
Après le calme des montagnes cambodgiennes, ici, c’est clair : la ville ne dort jamais… et les scooters encore moins.

Je commence mon tour de la ville en passant devant le People’s Committee, un élégant bâtiment colonial français qui sert aujourd’hui d’hôtel de ville.

Juste à côté, la poste centrale de Saïgon, chef-d’œuvre de l’architecture coloniale.
À l’intérieur, cartes anciennes, grande verrière et guichets rétro.

Moment fort de la journée : le Palais de la Réunification, symbole majeur de la fin de la guerre du Vietnam en 1975. C’est ici que les chars nord-vietnamiens sont entrés, marquant la réunification du pays.

Les salles sont restées presque intactes, ambiance années 70 garantie.
On s’attend presque à voir quelqu’un décrocher un téléphone rouge.

Je termine la balade devant l’Opéra de la ville, superbe bâtiment colonial, puis l’Hôtel Continental, mythique et chargé d’histoire, autrefois fréquenté par journalistes et écrivains.

After the calm of Cambodia, one thing is clear: this city never sleeps and neither do the scooters.

I started my city tour by passing the People’s Committee building, a beautiful French colonial structure now used as City Hall.
Elegant, official… and heavily guarded.

Right next door stands the Saigon Central Post Office, a masterpiece of colonial architecture. Inside: old maps, high ceilings, and a charming retro atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the day: the Reunification Palace, a key symbol marking the end of the Vietnam War in 1975.
This is where North Vietnamese tanks entered the city, leading to national reunification.

The rooms remain almost untouched, pure 1970s vibes.
I half expected someone to answer a red telephone.

I finished the walk at the Opera House, another stunning colonial building, and the historic Continental Hotel, once a hub for journalists and writers.Meer informatie
