A Group Day Out/ sort of day off

Today was a sort of day off ,but we still had to be ready for 8am to go on a minibus for the 1.5hr drive to the centre of Balikpapan, the nearest town.
First stop was for coffee and use of the facilities
We visited a shop to get supplies for the orangutans and was an opportunity to buy snacks and any other items we needed.
There was a surprising number of recognisable brands in the shop.
We bought some treats and at another shop some alcohol as on Saturday night we will be having a BBQ apparently.
This was followed by a trip to a local market selling fabric and local crafts. I failed in my mission to not buy anything and have bought some fabric which could be a sarong ...we shall see.
Moving on we went for lunch by the beach ⛱️. I had satay which came covered in killer spicy sauce . So not a great success..
On our way back to the project we stopped at a couple more shops. As we approached the project we got a flat tyre on the minibus..which provided a fabulous unexpected chance to stand in the back of the Hilux truck that came for us ..So despite the dress I hitched it up and clambered in....absolutely love it zipping along with the breeze it creates.
Dinner and chatting concluded another busy but enjoyable day.Read more
