Okonomiyaki Essen

🇩🇪 Da heute mein Geburtstag ist, haben wir beschlossen, gleich zweimal essen zu gehen. In dem Kaufhaus entdeckten wir eine Etage voller Restaurants, wo wir nach einem passenden Lokal suchten. Neben typischen japanischen Speisen wie Sushi und Ramen, die wir schon probiert haben, stießen wir auf ein weiteres traditionelles Gericht, das wir noch nicht gegessen hatten: Okonomiyaki. Dieses Gericht, besonders beliebt in Hiroshima und Osaka, ähnelt vom Aussehen zumindest einem Pfannkuchen und wird auf einer heißen Platte zubereitet. Die Zutaten sind jedoch komplett anders.

Ich hatte Okonomiyaki tatsächlich schon ein paar Mal auf Bali gegessen, als wir dort Sushi bestellt hatten. Es direkt vor Ort zu essen und zuzusehen, wie es zubereitet wird, ist jedoch ein ganz anderes, köstlicheres Erlebnis. Außerdem scheine ich mich mittlerweile an die asiatischen Portionen gewöhnt zu haben, denn ich schaffte es diesmal nicht, meine Portion komplett aufzuessen.

🇺🇸 Since today is my birthday, we decided to eat out twice. In the department store, we discovered a floor full of restaurants where we looked for a suitable place to eat. Besides typical Japanese dishes like sushi and ramen, which we had already tried, we came across another traditional dish that was new to us: Okonomiyaki. This dish, especially popular in Hiroshima and Osaka, resembles a pancake at least in appearance and is cooked on a hot plate, though the ingredients are completely different.

I had actually eaten Okonomiyaki a few times in Bali when we ordered sushi there. However, eating it on-site and watching it being prepared is a completely different, more delicious experience.
