Thur 28 May, Caernarfon still
May 28 in Wales ⋅ 🌬 15 °C
It is Steve’s 72nd birthday and we had a thoroughly pleasant day. Steve wandered over to Phil and Fi’s boat ‘Norma Jean’ (named after their mothers, not the famour actess) to help fit a new fresh water filler fitting. ‘Norma Jean is a ‘Rogger 33 - a Dutch designed long keeled wheelhouse ketch, not dissimilar to a Fisher.
The existing hole needed grinding out a bit and tapering for the new fitting and, surprise surprise, Wight Mistress had the right tools onboard. Job done, back onboard for late breakfast and we wandered off to explore Castel Caernarfon, to find that our English Heritage cards gave us free access. Result! Coffee and cake and then walked over the swing bridge to look along the beach along the strait. It is beautiful here.
Early curry in a local curry house and back onboard.
While wandering around, we decided to take a photo of the gate/sill holding the water inside Doc Fictoria so that you, dear reader, may save for your navigational ……whatnots.
See pics below. To achieve these pictorial artefacts Steve had to break the rules and pass through a barrier, clearly labelled not so to do. So safety precautions were observed through out and the principle of asking forgiveness rather than permission was adopted. Pics safely taken, the barrier was re-crossed safely. Oh the things one does for one’s art!
Imagine our surprise when only one package arrived from Amazon, BUT all 3 items ordered separately were all in the same box. Well done Amazon! So now we have a very powerful battery vacuum cleaner with 2 extra Makita compatible batteries and charger, and a new charger for Steve’s Nikon camera. Another result!
Early night methinks, wind getting up so main furler snubber rigged (stops it banging against the mast.)
Tomorrow we have booked on the steam train from Caernarfon to Beddgelert, leaving at 1110. It is a 1 ½ hour run each way and we have about 1 ¼ hour on the ground before returning. Really looking forward to it and hoping to get some nice photos.
Later on tomorrow afternoon we have a Fisher Owners Association member call on us to look at Wight Mistress. He and his wife are in the process of buying a Fisher 34, so it will be nice to introduce them to our F34.Read more
