Tuesday, 23 June Millport

Sometime during the night, while getting up to do something necessary, Steve had a look out of the wheelhouse window to see a beautiful dark site which is Millport in a moonlight night with some beautiful short lights on. Video attached hopefully.
For some odd reason, we didn’t wake up till nearly 10 o’clock this morning. Nothing to do with the very small Tot of rum we had last night.

Imagine our surprise when, on rising from our slumbers, that large round shiny thing and the blue stuff around it welcomed us once again. In fact, it was so warm this morning and so bright that we had breakfast in the saloon!

Lovely surprise: Across the bay from us, quite close by, we espied a green Fisher 34 called ‘BEAR.’ On our way ashore, we nipped over to say hello and met Andrew and Mandy Adamson, who come from Ecclesfield in Staffordshire and keep BEAR in Greenock.
They revealed to us that BEAR was formerly GUILLEMOT FISHER, who belonged to Eric Benfield, a former Rear Commodore East of the FOA. Lovely dinghy-side natter, we have been invited onboard for a look around later, after heading ashore. Actually, getting ashore here at low water is a real challenge unless you want to climb a steep and slimey ladder on to the pier. The small ramp was dried out, so we are going to try again later, for victuals/rabbits/gander(and possibly a pub.) Sadly, the distillery is not open until the weekend so we will not be hanging around for that. We feel that there are probably many other distilleries to visit. After a quick whizz around the harbour we came back to WM for a well-earned mocha, our current lunch-time drink of choice.
