Monday 29 June Rothesay to Tarbert

Departed Rothesay this morning to a bit of a grey day (no surprises there then!) Headed up East Kyle to the Burnt Islands channels, taking the right hand one (smaller, straighter) and round to port into West Kyle. We had thought of stopping at Tighnabruaich but were there too early for lunch, so we slowed, took photos and pressed on. Of course, the wind came around to on the nose but we did manage to sail most of the trip, arriving in Tarbert at about 1600. Steve had vague-ish memories of a pub called the ‘Islay Frigate’ so we wandered around the head of the loch to find it. Lovely people in there, stayed late, spinning dits etc.Read more
