    Preparation and arrival to Trondheim

    April 6, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☀️ 6 °C

    Preparation days for Sild
We have packed so much and thought of all the gear we possible could need for this trip we ended up with 3 large luggages and a couple of small ones. So we have diving gear, fishing gear and most importantly tools to work on the boat before lifting. Vidar was so kind he came to pick us up from the airport and we went straight to his storage to get all the accessories for the boat that had been stored for the winter. When we arrived to the harbour we were so excited and happy to see our new home again, a feeling that is hard to describe. For the first day we set out some easy tasks, settle into the boat, look around discover all the hidden treasures (like my new favorite salad spoon), a little cleaning and to make a plan for the coming days. We discovered we have no gas and even though I packed a small camping cooker, I forgot to take a gas for that too. Luckily we had a lot of butter, cheese and homemade Easter brioche for a few days before the shop would open again. ( Because of Easter everything was closed). After half the day of thinking where a random cushion can go we finally figured it was for the tiny aft bed we have 😂 which Clement happily tested. We had our first nap on board which was a dream and of course we ended our day with playing a round of Monopoly deal card game 🥰Read more

    Orkanger working days

    April 12, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☀️ 9 °C

We started with the keel and I think at this point we didn't realize how big of a job it will be. Removing all layers of antifouling, primer and rust as well as all the old silicone from the keel seam. I always have thought I love silicone, what a great material to work with on the sailboat, but now I'm coming to think of it again it's rather a love and hate relationship, love applying it and absolutely hate removing it. This work took hm almost 4 full days and both of us. Very tiring as most work was overhead just after the 1st days we had aches all in our upper body. Well it's safe to say we both lost it a few times and questioned if we will finish on time, but slowly and surely we were getting there. ( We had only 9 days to smash out all the work as all the boats had to be lifted on the 15th of April). In the meantime we got to now all the other boat owners in the harbour and they were all so kind and helpful trying their best to support us. I also went to Trondheim with a long long shopping list that's was rather challenging as I had to go around to 4 different stores as the ship shop was closed longer due to Easter - but anyhow I managed to fill my 60L backpack full of goodies and returned to the ship happily ready to shop of everything I got 😎Read more

    Launching dah has arrived 👏

    April 15, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

The day of launching arrived, and of course we were not ready yet, but luckily helped arrived yesterday (Anto and Lily) and we smashed out all the last minute projects before lifting. The proud owners Clement spent a minute to admire the keel work we have done and our prop could not be shinier 😎 What a moment to see an 11ton boat in the air and then suddenly in the water. We were very excited to head out the same day but slowly we realised that was not realistic. The genoa got stuck which took almost the whole afternoon and both me and clement had to climb the mast ( I almost puked which worried me as we haven't even started the real sailing yet I was already seasick). Luckily Sven our neighbor had the same furler before and he run to help and rescue us without him it would have taken I think days to figure out what was wrong. We ticked of the last minute shopping finally got gas for cooking 👏 and we could refill out water tanks, the only problem was it tasted awful 😂 so it was time to clean the water tank. And the projects just kept coming our way and around 6pm we agreed we need to spend one more night in Okanger and we try to wake up early tomorrow and head out. So it was time for a celebration drink after 2 hard days of work, but not yet for the champagne as we agreed only to open it when the sails are out ⛵ Our first night in the water with gently moves, we had the best night sleep.Read more
