Walking around the mountain of old town & Chilling on the beach. Met two nice Italians from Trento: Arianne & Giovanni. Sadly they had to leave already.

Boot свети наум/Springs/Food

Went on a boattour to Sveti Naum with 8 people from the Hostel: Cara, Klara, Veronica, Miguel, Rachel, Emily & Lukas.

We went for a boattour over the springs that feeds into езеро охрид. The springs are a protected area, water is 9c and drinkable. It was really peaceful.

After that we ate some Ohrid trout for lunch. And because we didnt have much time left to visit the monastery took a swim in the lake for a bit. After that we returned to the boat and got back. All tired.

In the evening the hostel's owner and his family prepared Macedonian dishes.
We got welcomed by eating a sweet cherry and a shot of Rakija. After that we got to eat all the delicious food & unlimited wine from Ohrid. I definitely had enough red wine.

I skipped on going out and went to bed.Read more

Just chilling in the lake

Not picked up/beach

In the morning I got up at 7.15 to go to a boattour over Охридско езеро. However the company forgot to put me on the list to be picked up. So I didnt get picked up and had no plans.

In the afternoon I walked to Labino beach (far away beach) to chill by myself, sometime to recharge, for a few hours. I walked back and at 22::00 we went to a fancy bar called Taboo.Read more

Голем град/mamma mia 2

As an alternative for not getting picked up I got offered a different tour to a place called Pelican Island/golem grad. I took the Viktor up on the offer.

At 8.00 i got picked up and the two other groups (families) also got picked up. We drove past the towns om lake Ohrid to drive into national park Galicia to get great views of the lake. Eventually we went over the mountainpass to see lake Prespa. It was not touristy and mostly nature. After stopping for coffee and going on a rubble road we ended up at the boats in a sleepy village, Коњско.

The little boat took us to the island where the guide made us lunch in the form of a salad & sandwiches with Ajvar & cheese. We walked around this island where there was notting beside us 10, the many birds, salamanders, turtles and some (poisonous) snakes. The ruins of the many churches were interesting but the silence & nature were amazing.

Eventually we headed back and stopped at the highest point to overlook the entirety of lake Ohrid, just as it started to rain.

Back at the hostel I and a few more got dinner & we all spend the evening watching Mamma Mia 2. I stayed up to 1.30 to chat with Eloise (who had to left the next morning) and 3 other girls about every possible subject.Read more

Labino beach

On my last full day in Ohrid nobody of the groupin the hostel could be bothered to go anywhere. So we decided that we were going to chill on Labino beach.

In the evening i decided to take a powernap because it had a short night of sleep and had dinner in the Macedonian restaurant where I had Peasant Meat for the second time. When I was done I found other people from the hostel and chatted with them in the restaurant.

In the evening we chilled in the hostel and played a game where you had to think of a scenario and you had to guess the number on the card you had. Ace being lowest, king highest. There were tons of questionable statements & inside jokes for everyone.Read more

A fun goodbye

On my last half day I stayed at the hostel, packed my bags & chilled with the group. Because I had been there a week some of us got to know eachother quite well. Before i got in the taxi I got everyones phone number and there was alot of hugging.

This hostel really got the social butterfly out of me and it didnt feel draining at all. I hope i'll see some of them again. So many nice people from all over the world.Read more
