    Stopped in Page, Arizona for gas and a Walmart stop for a few camper essentials and food resupply. Hungry hikers!

    Made sure to stop and enjoy the views of Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam. Learned that the dam was President Dwight Eisenhower's idea in 1953 and he said to "dammit". 10 years and 10 million pounds of concrete and the Glen Canyon Dam was built and Lake Powell was born. Lake Powell is 186 miles long with 1960 miles of shoreline. It was named after John Wesley Powell, whom we learned about at our IMAX movie this morning. He was a brave (maybe a bit wild) one-armed Civil War veteran with a lot of guts to explore what others would not dare. How fortuitious!Read more
