Litchfield National Park Day 2 Exploring

We packed up camp this morning, with a plan to spend one final day exploring the park before heading to Darwin for the night. But before we could get on our way, we received good news and bad news. First the good news - a call from the ranger station to say they had our backpack, all contents still present, and would happily drop it off to us at camp. Then the bad news - further plumbing issues at our house in Page 💩😬😭
Many messages and phone calls later, we'd organised a plumber to head to our place today to sort it out. So having done as much as we could on that front for now, we ate a quick early lunch, collected our backpack from reception where it has been left for us, then headed off to nearby Wangi falls for a swim. A big, well developed area and large swimming hole with two waterfalls welcomed us and provided a refreshing cooloff. Both girls are growing so much in their skill and confidence in the water, so with noodles on hand they both can paddle around independently, making it a much more relaxing experience for Ben and I.
We did a short walk up into the rainforest, seeing giant orb spiders and bats along the way. When we returned there was a very friendly/fearless goanna roaming the grassed picnic area, cheekily searching for an afternoon snack. A few tourists got a bit close and quickly changed their minds. With the day getting late, we needed to keep moving to make it to Darwin for the night. First, icecreams, then we collected the van from the Safari camp where we'd left it parked for the day. We also got word that the plumbing issue at home had been sorted, again, and hopefully the last time we need a plumber in 2024!
I wanted to check out one last water hole before we left the park, the Cascades, but when we arrived saw it would be a 1.7km walk so we bailed and continued on. Both girls fell asleep in the car so we knew it was going to be a late night to bed 🤦♀️ We arrived at Hidden Valley caravan park around 6pm, and went for a swim in the pool before a late dinner - no hurry on bedtime!Leggi altro
