Darwin Day 2

Today we headed to the nearby Leanyer waterpark, a free waterplay and pool park with slides and a huge playground. We spent hours here cooling off in the water, and it was so nice to see Eva take on a very maternal role with Millie, guiding her to the various play areas and encouraging and protecting her - a nice change from squabbling! The experience was only marred by a fire burning closeby, which by the time was causing ash to rain down on us. We did a few errands, then headed to the Mindil Beach Markets, a Darwin institution. We took in the live band, a local collective, while we ate crocodile burgers, then made our way down to the beach for a gorgeous sunset. Then back for more wandering through the markets, where I was very surprised to catch sight of a doctor from Canberra I used to work with. Before long Millie was falling asleep and everyone was feeling it after a long day, so after mango smoothies we called it a night and headed home.Read more
