Day 34 - mile 498

Last night we were sleeping by a road that goes into the nearby community of Green River. Instead of getting on the trail right away, I liked the idea of hitching a ride to a convenience store to get a soda and something sweet for breakfast. That was a good start to the day.

Around lunchtime, we crossed another road. The map showed a neat looking hamburger place not far away. Out came the thumbs and soon after we were enjoying a fantastic lunch. It was fun talking with some of the locals who had a lot of questions about how we were doing on the trail.

Even with the distractions, we got in another 20 miles and camped at a nice campground overlooking the Mojave desert. Hiking 20 miles is feeling pretty normal at this point.Read more
