    Central Park and Citibikes

    April 9, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Omg the noise! The room was so hot but I had to close the windows and put ear plugs in. Music from apartments, boomboxes, sirens, voices, horns and a bloody teenager who won't go to sleep. Bit different than the rural Dorset countryside 🤣 eventually got about 8 hours sleep and was awake at 6am (standard).
Cade wanted to compare McDonald's 🤮 so we walked to the nearest one for breakfast which took us through the Northwest corner of central park.
McDonald's sausage and egg mcmuffin was no different than the UK. Cade had the same but instead of the muffin his was pancakes. I think they called it a Griddlescone.
We decided to go to the Empire state building but didn't know how to get there.
An Uber was too expensive.. the bus was too complicated.. the Subway was too daunting.. so we decided to go to Central Park and look at the pedicabs which are similar to a Tuk Tuk that I had seen on an old schoolfriends Facebook Post last week.
On the way back to the park we came across a Citibike stand and they had e-bikes which Cade was keen to try. We worked out that the Lyft app would allow you to take one of the E bikes so I took mine in this way. Cade has no roaming so we tried to download the app for him on my hotspot. This worked but then for confirmation of registration they wanted to send him a text... ugh.. didn't work. We worked out that we could do a $15 unlimited day pass by debit card at the stand. Unlimited 30 minute journeys for 24 hours but not on an E-bike. Just on a regular bike. So.. off we went into the park taking turns on the e-bike.
Holy crap the park is huge! His 30 minutes was soon up so we stopped at the Imagine memorial at Strawberry fields just as it started to pour down. We still had a fair distance to go to The Empire State building so I said "bugger it" and we got an Uber the rest of the way.
