• Arrived in Leon

    June 12, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 66 °F

I finally finished walking across the Meseta. There have been a few memorable experiences. In Carrion de lis Condes. I stayed at the albergue run by the “singing nuns”. It is next door to the Iglesia Santa Maria. In the evening, they sang songs for us, some of which we knew. We had hand-outs with the lyrics so that we could sing along. Afterwards, there was a short mass snd then a pilgrim blessing.

The next day, I came across a couple of guys who had set up a shade tent, table, and chairs beside the trail. They were giving away snacks, drinks, first aid supplies, sunscreen and many other items. They would not accept donations. They’re like the “trail angels” along the Appalachian Trail. One of them, Adrian, had just been at a retreat hosted by Caminotellers, the folks that interviewed me last year for Youtube. We’re all having lunch together tomorrow here in Leon.
