Day 16: Moclín to Alcalá la Real

Sixteenth stage, from Moclín to Alcalá la Real, 23.5km.
It's Saturday morning, and the village is still asleep when we set off.
The descent from Moclín is rocky: you have to be careful where you step. And right away we have magnificent views, both towards our destination and from where we came.
After 3.7 km we have to concentrate on the road. The tarmac takes over from the country path, and even though today is Saturday, the traffic is still busy!
Fortunately, after 2.3km, we climb through an olive grove, where we often turn around to look at the landscape behind us.
We can't avoid the N-432 today, the Carretera de Córdoba, where we refine our protection system. The fluorescent vest is no longer waved at arm's length, but placed on our walking sticks, whose sharp tips are resolutely pointed at cars as a deterrent. 😄
The village of Ermita Nueva will give us the opportunity to buy an excellent 'semi curado' goat cheese.
A final peligroso crossing of the N-432, and we walk along asparagus fields until the Fortaleza de la Mota, the castle of Alcalá la Real, appears on the horizon.
