Coober Pedy

Drove from Pimba to Coober Pedy, our longest drive, at about 4 hours. We camped in a dry creek about 13 km out of Coober Pedy, which was great as there was a gravel base, so there was no red dirt. Coober Pedy was different from any place we have been before. It was an arid dry place that was red dirt and not a blade of grass except on the oval. The underground Church was interesting, as was the underground house. We thought that the houses would be made of compact dirt, but they are actually carved into the sandstone rock and need very little support.
