Laundry day. 🤷‍♀️ Has to be done. Got it done early then found Antique Archaeology shop from the show American Pickers that Dave loves to watch. The building is an amazing old automotive plant. Tonight we went to the Grand Ole Opry. The Gatlin Brothers hosted the evening show and they were very entertaining. Also singing were Pat Boone, Lorrie Morgan, The Malpass Brothers, and Jeannie Seely. They are older artists from days gone by but still very entertaining. Pat Boone is 89 years old and sang a song he just wrote about "grits" it was really silly.Baca lagi

  • New Orleans

    9 September 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 90 °F

Nice short trip from Mobile, AL to New Orleans. Interesting inter-coastal highways with lots of highways over water. Our hotel is just a few blocks off of the French Quarter, I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Very interesting culture. We had dinner at a famous hotel Monteleone with a carousel bar. Back to our hotel before dark and before the real crazy’s come out. 😵‍💫
We discovered in NOLA, as they call it, that if you haven't seen something, just keep walking and you will. In other words there are some really interesting people.

  • Day 2 New Orleans “NOLA”

    10 September 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

Spent the morning wandering around the Garden District which is old historic homes, more like mansions built around the late 1800’s. They put the Spokane South Hill to shame. Check out the Lafayette Cemetery pics that show how they bury their remains above ground. Not only for sea level reasons but also for family crypt traditions. We were fortunate enough to join a tour as they were strolling with a guided walking tour by accident which ended up being very informative. Then back to downtown NOLA to the French Market via the trolley system. Public transportation has been an education for us for sure. 😳😷 On to Galveston tomorrow.Baca lagi

Took a scenic drive from New Orleans to Galveston along a lot of inter- coastal highways and a ferry to Galveston which is a island.. We saw a huge pod of dolphins on our ferry ride. 7+ hours later we reached beautiful Galveston and our hotel. Drove around and saw some homes from the 1800’s along with the unique architecture of Galveston homes. Had a very good seafood dinner at Katie’s Seafood House that catches all their own seafood daily. On to explore more of Galveston tomorrow.Baca lagi

Love, Love Galveston!!! Spent the day touring old Galveston downtown and midtown looking at old and restored homes. Had rolled ice cream at the Cordray Drug Store owned by the television show couple that restores old homes in Galveston called Restoring Galveston. We love to watch their show on HGTV. Spent some time at the beach. The ocean water was super warm here. Galveston is a nice resort town that we would recommend anyone to visit. On to San Antonio tomorrow.Baca lagi

San Antonio is a beautiful place to visit. The Riverwalk is fun to stroll along. Today we visited the Alamo, shopped The La Villita Arts Village and walked along old homes in the King William Historic District. Hot and humid today even though it’s cooled off from what it has been here. Dinner along the Riverwalk at a Mexican restaurant to top the day off.Baca lagi

Short drive to Waco,TX for lunch at Magnolia Table then on to The Silos to shop. We love to watch Chip and Joanna Gaines’s show Fixer Upper and they are the authors behind all the Magnolia lines. It is a large production of family, fun, goods and shopping. We planned our trip around visiting their stores. We also visited the Dr. Pepper museum. Can’t wait to share my photos with my dad.Baca lagi

Not a lot of traffic on highway 287 made for a more pleasant commute along the flat Texas countryside with plenty of 4x4 truck’s and semis. Mostly cows, fields and huge windmills. A stop at the infamous Cadillac Ranch where we took part in the tradition of spray painting the cars. Lunch at a local hole in the wall diner called Coyote Bluff Cafe which was a unique experience, oh my.Baca lagi

The majestic Grand Canyon!!! Spent the day hiking around the canyon but don't worry not to the bottom just half way. , In the park we used the hop on hop off bus touring the southwest rim of the canyon. A great way to see the sites, walk around, and not be in a rush. It really gave ua a chance to simply enjoy the natural splendor of the Grand Canyon. Tomorrow we plan to explore the canyon's southeast parts. So beautiful.Baca lagi

  • Antelope Canyon

    20 September 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

We had a 2 1/2 hour drive from The Grand Canyon along a two lane very bumpy rolling highway on the Navajo Indian Reservation. The reservation land had interesting sand hill landscapes as we traveled to Page, AZ. All I can say is wow!!! Antelope Canyon in Page Arizona is so beautiful. . We had an awesome Navajo guide that took us through the box canyon who not only gave us history on the canyon, but took incredible photos for us. The canyon was accidentally discovered in 1931 by a young Navajo girl herding sheep. Today, Navajo sheep herders ancestors own and operate the Antelope Canyon tours. The box canyon cannot be seen while standing on the surface of the desert floor. You must go done 50 plus feet to get inside it.Baca lagi

  • Zion National Park

Beautiful sites come into view of Zion National Park as we travel through mile long Mt Carmel Tunnel. But miles before we were able to enter the tunnel we encountered a long traffic jam. We couldn't believe a traffic jam in the middle of a national park?? The mountains and valleys are so extreme. Zion is another beautiful example of God's handiwork..Baca lagi

  • Zion to Idaho Falls

    22 September 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☁️ 45 °F

Long drive from beautiful Zion National Park back to our original first road trip stop in Idaho Falls. One doesn’t quite compare to the other. Provo and Salt Lake is all very similar country with valleys surrounded by different mountain ranges. There is snow in the Wasatch mountains!! We started in Idaho Falls when it was a 90 degree furnace and returned to Idaho Falls with 50 degree temperatures and more like a refrigerator. What a temperate change. We will be happy to be home and be glad to see our friends and family tomorrow. 🥰❤️Baca lagi

    23 September 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

It is a great feeling to be on our last leg home!!! The Montana snow topped mountains are a welcome sight for our eyes. It’s the kind of scenery we are used to for sure but dramatically different with changing of the leaves and snow capped mountains. We enjoyed our cross country bucket list trip. We saw some amazing places, met some very interesting people, and drove 8600 miles in a car together and our marriage survived. But like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz movie, "There's no place like Home". We our happy to be home and will be glad to see our friends and family . 🥰❤️Home sweet home. ❤️🥰❤️Baca lagi
