    This wonderful day started off with an e-mail from Myles announcing “It’s done.” What happy news. The day built from there. We had the best guide to introduce us to the treasures and history embedded in the columns of “The Black Men” surrounding the sarcophagus of Emperor Maximilian. This guide wove the history of the Hapsburg dynasty together with knowledge of the accumulation of power and wealth of other European dynasties we have learned about other trips. He then introduced us to the treasures of the old town with its medieval buildings such as the Golden Roof, and the scenic banks of the Inn River, in such a way that we could grasp the wisdom of city planning in the days of Maria-Theresa. I joined old and new women friends to laugh and share over lunch and repeated the fun of that at dinner.Read more
