• Day 6 - Aboriginal Rock Paintings (pm)

    Welcome ceremony at Freshwater Cove then a long walk to view 65000 yo rock art. Took the walk back with Neil (the aboriginal guide) so had the chance to ask a few questions one on one. When someone dies they take their bodies to the top of the hill and leave them until there are just bones left. The bones are wrapped and take to a nearby island (which he pointed out) and buried with all of their ancestors there. He named all of the snakes they get - it was a very long list and our top 5 most venomous were mentioned. Needless to say I didn’t look up from where I was waking from that point forward.Read more
