About as exciting as it got today. Long drive to Paihia and found a quaint little town called Puhoi for a break along the way. Can’t get used to all the Maori names and how to say them.
Bay of Islands, Hole in the Rock

Beautiful place. Stopped at Urupukapuka, watched the dolphins play, drove the boat through the hole in the rock.
Exploring Auckland, Sky Tower, Devonport

Saw Auckland from every angle possible - street level, looking down from above, and across from Devonport.

Hobbiton was a highlight. Loved this tour. And we had the happiest little Singaporean guide. Went to Lake Taupo via Rotorua again to see the thermal springs and bubbling mud. So good to see.

Had a nice visit to Wanganui. Stayed at the Rutland Arms Hotel, played a quirky game of mini golf, and found a little town called Bulls on our way to Wellington. The Rat Hole really was a rat hole.

Museums usually put me to sleep but the Anzac section of this one wasn’t bad, mostly because the giant wax figures were incredibly made.

Day Drive to Queenstown

The drive to Queenstown was estimated to be 6 hours allowing for bad weather. We took 8 because there are lots of pretty places to stop along the way.
Bullers Gorge & Punakaiki

Crossed New Zealand’s longest swing bring at Bullers Gorge. Then travelled onto Punakaiki where we walked to Pancake Rocks. I was expecting some flat rocks on the beach but what we found was amazing.

Cold and miserable. Nothing much to do except eat and drink. We did watch a great little 40 min movie about the region at the cinema. And had a cuppa at a cute little town called Hokitika.
