Every single elephant has his own caretaker that is with the elephant all day long. He feeds and takes care of his elephant and walks with it, swims with it etc. At the end of the day they gather all the elephants together from all over the huge terrain to lock them in the sleeping quarter’s for the elephants to be safe a night. That is when all the caretakers that live with their families with their elephant, gather together. The kids play in the field where the elephants roamed during the day, the women gather and chat, most of them probably have jobs here in the kitchen the cleaning etc, and the man hang out around their scooters, chat and smoke.
